Thankyou Karen Hinds for participating with some content for our newsletter. Please check her out below in her column: Networking in the workplace.

I have some other possible featured columns or articles in the works. I'm gonna put a little pressure on them by mentioning it now. LOL! They will be: a recommended reading list and possibly a book review once a month or so. Also, possibly a travel column and/or tips on getting into college. Ok yall! I put it out there! You know who you are so you gotta come through, WE WAITIN'...ZZZ...ZZZ! :-) Yeah, I should talk right?

The likely topics in each newsletter will be:
From Your Publisher

News: including New Member Drive update, summit, conference call schedule and results

Make Mo Money: this week the article in the publisher section is about making money. The following issue there will be a heading on it's own.

Main Article: usually by myself or a guest author on the topic of, you guessed it "Networking" either directly or related to. Featured column

Featured article: on any topic

Another possibility will be a business of the month, where members will be able to have their business listed and we could still make sure members are not flooded with business ads.

.. all will not necessarily be there every issue but they will show up in some issues. Enjoy the rest of the Newsletter.

FROM  YOUR PUBLISHER

This is the Official Newsletter of The WBNWA
(World Black Networking Association)

And Our Mission is:

We intend to help all black peoples to overcome the disadvantages and injustices and inequalities found in America today. It is to make a contribution in helping our country to get one step closer to how it was intended to be, a country of equal opportunity and justice for all.

We intend to do that by focusing on the needs of the black community first and working together in all areas of life socially, economically, spiritually, emotionally.

We intend to create synergies and work creatively to solve the challenges of our people and to take advantage of the freedoms afforded us to excel in the America of the future and the world.

We intend to help and coordinate with blacks from around the world.

We intend to then from a position of strength encourage others to continue to work together and we will work with them toward creating unity, harmony and opportunity for all races and peoples.

Founders Word on Networking:

Crabs in a bucket syndrome

This is one thing you'll hear me mention again and again is this:

We got Crabs in a bucket syndrome:

When we're stuck, like so many of us are, Black folk like to keep the rest of us stuck with us, we're like crabs in a bucket, ghetto crabs, any crab sticks thier head up and want to crawl out the bucket we wanna pull 'em back in with us, who the hell do they think they are anyways, they ain't nothin'!! What, you gone get outta the ghetto? Sell out! OR when we make it, we think the worlds problems are solved, racial equality has been won! We don't reach back and help others to make it to where we are. Hello brothers, sisters, you didn't make it to where you are alone.

We gotta change this! Now, one by one. As we have successful networking stories we will share them and hopefully it will become addictive. Success by working together and developing a larger and closer and more rewarding network in the process.

The Benefits of Networking: Part two

Now in addition to every other way it could benefit you what if I told you that that blossoming .. oh hell! EXPLODING network could have a direct financial reward for you?

OH! Now you're listening. LOL!

There are any number of ways your network can benefit you financially.

How about these..

1. Help getting a job. Recommendation or refferals or job info or tips on how to advance on your job.
2. Business ideas, Business partners
3. Customers
4. Mentors, Roll models
5. Inspiration
6. Information on Investments opportunities, Investment partners
7. Eventually I am leaning toward having membership dues that go both to a black economical advancement fund, but will also be redistributed back to members to reward you all for introducing others and getting the ball rolling

8. PMG - introduces you to several business opportunities with different companies in different industries. Some of these opportunities but not all are what's called network marketing. Well a well guarded secret of Network Marketing is you have to have a network. What better network to have than one that trusts you because they know you have a track record of having their best intrests at heart. That's what I hope we are developing a group of people that genuinely care about each other. Also learn about 'online marketing' and more.

9. Join a mastermind group: A group of people in harmony with each other, with similar or compatible goals, working together for a specific purpose. It's like think tank but more since a mastermind will go beyond just thinking of idea. You would actually work together to bring these ideas about, make them happen.

10. Form your own mastermind groups: it is recommended that you both join someones mastermind and become a leader and start your own eventually.

Summary of The Mastermind Group System:
1. Join someone elses Mastermind Group
2. Start your own Mastermind Group

BTW: I will be starting my mastermind Group: It will be called Fullspeed.to/millvill ...people who believe and want to be millionaires, I call them millvillionaires (of course) LOL

So if you like that idea...and if you don't mind the jokes I got, holla at me!!!

Too Shy? Well maybe you'll meet some people that will be understanding of the fact that you're shy and could still help or work with you. Maybe they could even help you with your shyness. Or maybe their personality is outgoing and they'd be willing to work with someone that has something other than an outgoing personality that has something else to offer. That is what networking is all about. so don't let anything stop you.

COLUMN: Ten ways people abuse their networks. Part 2

From The Book:

Networking for a Better Position and More Profit By Karen Hinds

Ten Ways People Abuse Their Networks

Here are some unwritten rules of networking that you should try your best never to violate:

Connecting only when you have a need. Don't make contact with people only to get a favor or information. We all know people who get in touch when they have a need and then disappear until they want another need down the road.

Inconsistent follow-up. Networking is all about follow-up. If you are trying to sell a product, you may need to invest a few weeks, months, or even years before your network really begins to work for you at optimum speed. If you are looking for a new job or just want to have different expertise at your fingertips, you must be consistent. Lay out a networking plan and outline ways in which you can stay connected consistently.

Getting upset when people do not respond immediately. People have busy lives, and in many instances you are not their first priority. Even when you do invest time and energy into a relationship, getting to know someone takes time and effort. Be patient and persistent, and keep in mind that the people in your network are not your employees; they are volunteers agreeing to help you and vice versa. Karen Hinds
